The station entered operation on 1 July 2010,〔(虹桥火车站将于7月1日启用 ), Xinmin.cn. Retrieved 13 July 2010.〕 nearly four months after the opening of the line's Hongqiao extension. It is located near Hongqiao International Airport and a railway station of the same name. The Line 10 section of the station commenced operation on 30 November of the same year.
